Arnaud and his friend Fred met in Houston while watching France in the World Cup back in, as Arnaud says, “the last century.” How they decided to go from watching soccer to forming a duo playing music in French, I don’t know. I only know that they did.

As a hobby, Arnaud and Fred played music in French in restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and private venues as a band known as Kirby-sur-Seine until 2001, when Arnaud moved to London. They got the band back together when Arnaud returned to Houston in 2011. Given our move to Switzerland, the band has returned to hiatus.

When Fred came to visit us in Lausanne, I requested a private concert. Though they hadn’t played (or practiced) in well over a year, and though their equipment didn’t quite function, they indulged me.

And because few efforts ever come off without bloopers, I created a brief outtakes video for humor’s sake.
