Things I Love: November 2013
It's November already?
eBags Packing Cubes
A friend swore by these cubes, raved about how she could fit more in her bag, her packed items stayed tidy, she could find things in a snap on the road, and unpacking became a breeze.
So I bought a set in various sizes, given the reasonable cost and her enthusiasm. Call me a convert turned evangelist: Get thee some.
Under Armour Undeniable Squeezable Bottle
My last gym water bottle had a pull-up drinking mechanism that never stayed fully open and released only a tiny sip at a time. When it closed completely—as it often did—I had to wrench it with my teeth. (Boxing gloves limit dexterity, don’cha know.)
All bottle options seemed to have complicated drinking mechanisms to prevent leaks between gulps. The Undeniable Squeezable Bottle I saw at Sports Authority, though, seemed a possible solution.
Problem solved. When the dial on the bottle top is turned to “close,” nothing escapes. When opened, liquid stays contained until you squeeze the sides, which opens a plastic valve by pushing air past it, releasing as much water as you can take. And I guzzle a lot of water.
Thumbs up.
Microsoft Surface RT
New technology often disappoints. First purchasers feel like guinea pigs, finding all the flaws.
I could have felt the same way about my Microsoft Surface RT, which I preordered before it hit the market over a year ago now.
Yet I haven’t had a regretful moment. This tablet has done all I could have expected and more. It has solid software that has made work and leisure easier—and an even greater pleasure—and hardware that hasn’t degraded one jot in nearly thirteen months.
Many people wanted to see Microsoft fail with the Surface and the pooh-poohing certainly hurt sales. That’s a shame, because I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
What do you love this month?
